Parker Introduces Polyflex Nautilus20™ 20,000 psi Umbilical Hose for Deep Subsea Gas and Oil Extraction
The flexible high-performance solution is qualified according to ISO 13628-5
and offers collapse resistance above 7,250 psi (500 bar)
Ravenna, Ohio, February 25, 2019 – The Parflex division of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, recently announced the availability of its new Polyflex Nautilus20™ umbilical hose developed specifically for deepwater applications in the oil and gas industry.
Polyflex Nautilus20 offers an unprecedented 20,000 psi (1,379 bar) designed working pressure (DWP) that allows offshore oil and gas companies to overcome the constraints of 15,000 psi (1,000 bar) hoses enabling them to target reserves in deeper waters with higher reservoirs and greater step-out distances. An industry-leading collapse resistance above 7,250 psi (500 bar) combined with its ISO13628-5 qualification make Nautilus20 an excellent choice for operators working in harsh offshore drilling environments.

The Nautilus20 series offers a similar weight and bending radius as standard 15,000 psi hoses on the market, but with enhanced performance features”, Juhasz added. “Its smooth-bore, non-sticky cover, for instance, allows bundled hoses to be handled and installed with less resistance. This helps to reduce the risk of abrasion-related problems including damage to the hose cover and shortened life.”
Parker’s newest offshore hose features a high-performance thermoplastic inner core tube protected by four layers of high-tensile wire reinforcement. With a wide operating temperature range of -40°F to +300°F (-40°C to +150°C), supreme chemical resistance, and an extremely low permeation rate, Nautilus20 is highly suitable for 20,000 psi (1,379 bar) intervention umbilicals, subsea and topside jumpers, and flying leads.
