  • RICHMOND, VA (March 13, 2018) —Weidmuller introduces their Klippon® Connect A-Series Application Range modular terminal blocks. Featuring push-in technology, the new A-Series Application Range products are designed specifically for use in recurring control cabinet applications to help increase efficiency and safety, and reduce costs. This range includes terminals for voltage/current transformer wiring, signal wiring, control voltage distribution and power distribution.

    The A-Series Application Range offers users custom-fit control panel solutions to help increase productivity and significantly reduce cabinet space when compared with traditional terminal set-ups. The initiator-actuator terminal blocks offer increased wiring density with up to four different potentials in a 3.5mm (0.14”) width. The range includes modular terminals for connecting two to four conductor sensors or actuators with and without ground connection points. Solid and stranded wires with wire-end ferrules can be connected quickly and reliably with a PUSH IN connection­­– no tools required. The connection system is color-coded to minimize the chance of incorrect connections and help make installation and maintenance more efficient. In addition, each contact point has a corresponding test point where test plugs may be inserted. This enables testing of the different potentials at each contact point to help reduce test time in the control cabinet.

    The A-Series Application Range allows for clear and compact set-ups for control voltage distribution purposes and can be specified to individual machine types. A standardized distributor terminal block design and simple cross-connection options help save space and prevent incorrect wiring. Two possible set-ups – alternating and grouped – increase flexibility. The alternating set-up features two different potentials on one terminal, providing space-savings compared with conventional set-ups. Clear contact assignment and individual contact points help simplify maintenance and modification tasks. The structured block solution can be easily combined with modular terminal blocks of the same size, and uses standard accessories. Additional terminal blocks are easily added using a second cross-connection channel.

The new PROtop series combines Dynamic Current Limiting (DCL) technology for safe triggering of circuit breakers with leading edge efficiencies of up to 95.4% for longer life spans. An integrated OR-ing MOSFET for redundancy or parallel operation without a diode, along with the optional communications interface for data monitoring and transfer to control systems, makes the PROtop Industry 4.0 / IIoT ready.

    The new PROtop power supplies’ DCL technology provides unique impulse energy reserves for optimal system availability. A peak current reserve of 600% for 20ms provides safe and reliable circuit breaker triggering and the consistent peak reserves from milliseconds to seconds are ideal for powerful DC motor startups without having the power supply shutdown.

    PROtop power supplies encompass excellent performance figures with features that offer increased efficiency and sustainability.   • RICHMOND, VA (April 19, 2019) — Weidmuller is excited to announce the receipt of a Product of the Year award from Plant Engineering magazine for their maxGUARD Terminal Block Load Monitoring and Protection System. The Plant Engineering Product of the Year competition recognizes new and innovative solutions in product development. This year’s program included 15 product categories with 48 winners determined by votes from the magazine readers. Weidmuller was presented with the silver award in the Electrical Safety Category at the April 8th Engineering Awards in Manufacturing dinner.

    The maxGUARD system is a key component in Weidmuller’s Klippon® Connect portfolio of products and services for panel building. With maxGUARD, the electronic load monitoring ELM devices combined with distribution terminal blocks can be customized to provide selective load protection in 24V DC power distributed systems for industrial automation applications. With combining load monitoring and potential distribution into one complete solution, this offers users time-savings during installation, increased safety against failure, and DIN-rail space savings while being highly service friendly.

    The modular maxGUARD system is designed to meet specific requirements for automation control panels in all areas (including Hazardous C1D2 and IEC Ex). It contains three main cross-connection channels– positive, negative and internal signaling. This design increases the number of possible contacts from the electronic load monitoring device outputs (positive and negative) into the terminal blocks, providing efficient connections for the distribution board loads, as well as reduced wiring.     Available in a range of single-channel and four-channel variations (both standard and conformal coating), maxGUARD provides application flexibility for custom solutions. The space-saving maxGUARD modules have a 6.1mm housing and feature push-in connection technology. The rated operating voltage is 24V DC, and the complete system has a maximum current capacity of 40A. The wide operating temperature range extends from -25°C to +55°C (without derating).
