In December 2018, Siderforgerossi was awarded ISO 45001 “Occupational health and safety management system” certification. The international standard specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety management system in order to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, while also making proactive improvements to the existing OHSAS 18001 standard.
The international certification currently covers the facilities in the Veneto area. It is due to be extended to the Busano site by the end of May 2019.
In operational terms, the main objective of the ISO 45001 standard is to promote greater engagement between organizations and their contexts, while ensuring that workers are aware of health and safety issues and contribute towards the management of them for their own good.
The British OHSAS 18001 standard that has been used until the present time can now be entirely replaced by the new ISO standard in occupational health and safety management systems.
The ISO 45001 standard was published for the first time on 12 March 2018.
Siderforgerossi’s health and safety team immediately started work on the certification process and we are now proud to be one of the first certified Italian companies.
All companies will have to migrate to the new international standard by March 2021. However, Siderforgerossi likes to stay one step ahead, so it made sense for it to make the move quickly, especially because this means that it can bring itself in line with all of the other ISO management standards for which it is already certified.
In addition, earning the certification means that it is making its first steps towards an integrated management system covering health, safety, the environment, energy and quality. It is an ambitious goal for a company that is increasingly defined by its pursuit of excellence.
We are now all more committed and dedicated to the drive for occupational health and safety: welcome ISO
