  • SolidWorks Recognizes Women in Engineering from InFocus!

    September, 2017

InFocus is proud to announce that our engineering team members Oxana Scheming, Ph.D, and Erin Venables have been awarded “Women in Engineering” recognition by SOLIDWORKS!

The SOLIDWORKS Women in Engineering Program (WIE) was created to help recognize the outstanding achievements that women are accomplishing day to day in the engineering field and community around the world.

In recognition of this achievement, SOLIDWORKS is flying Oxana and Erin to Boston to meet the SOLIDWORKS team and attend the 2018 SOLIDWORKS Live Launch Event at the Dassault Systemes North American Headquarters on September 25th and 26th.

On Monday they will meet key players within the SOLIDWORKS organization who directly impact day-to-day use of the software. They will find out what’s new in SOLIDWORKS from members of the Product Introduction team, and network with SOLIDWORKS executives.

On Tuesday Oxana and Erin will be on-hand as SOLIDWORKS 2018 LIVE is presented livestream by CEO Gian Paolo Bassi, and Vice President of Portfolio Management, Kishore Boyalakuntla. That afternoon there will be forum discussions between all Women in Engineering award recipients and the SOLIDWORKS Product Definition team. A wide range of products and topics will be covered, then questions and suggestions will be heard.

InFocus is excited for the future of SOLIDWORKS and our Engineering team, and we look forward to delivering more unique downhole tools and rapid-response engineering services to our valued Customers. Congratulations Oxana and Erin for this prestigious award - enjoy your trip!

  • InFocus Wins 2017 Alberta Export Award

The Alberta Export Awards honour the success and innovation of Alberta companies who export out of the province and who make such a positive contribution to our economy. Sponsored in part by the Government of Alberta, the Alberta Export Awards are the province’s only awards program paying tribute to the success and innovative approaches of Alberta export companies. Extending across industries and including both rural and urban representation, the awards are a celebration of the contributions exporters have made to both the provincial and national economy.

InFocus Energy Services won a 2017 Alberta Export Award in the category of “Emerging Exporter”. Owner and Director of Operations Allan Pearson accepted the award for InFocus.

Held on November 23,  2017 at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary, the awards featured keynote speaker Danielle Smith, former Wildrose Party leader and current NewsTalk 770 host, and industry leaders coming together to celebrate export excellence.

Our thanks to our amazing staff as always, to EDC for our nomination, and to @JWNenergy and and

  • InFocus Presents AMP: All Metal Power Section Technology at the Global Geothermal Energy Summit 2017

InFocus was asked to deliver a presentation at the Global Geothermal Energy Summit 2017 in Amsterdam, November 29th and 30th.  Mr. Geoffrey Samuel, P.Eng of InFocus gave a presentation titled “New Technology: Enhanced Geothermal Drilling Solutions” where he focused  on the enormous advantages that InFocus Patent-Pending AMP: All Metal Power section technology will bring to the geothermal industry.

Originally developed to meet the HPHT (High-Pressure High-Temperature) and torque demands of the new RE|FLEX Premium Drilling Motor, InFocus’ proprietary AMP: All Metal Power (metal-to-metal) power sections are rated to temperatures greater than 200°C (400°F), so they are not susceptible to extreme temperature and most mud-related issues seen with traditional PDM’s.  Metal-to-metal contact translates into much higher operating regimes.

The Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) estimates that only 6.5 percent of total global potential has been tapped so far. With recent developments in the industry, unlocking the potential for new untapped sources of geothermal energy production, the GEA  are entering a new dawn for the geothermal energy industry.

  • HYDRA Family
Guide shoe. High speed reamer. Scraper. Jetting tool. Cementing aid (for 4-1/2-in size and up)...

  • HYDRA Tools feature InFocus' Patent-Pending Impeller Drive System Technology

The HYDRA Multi-Purpose Shoe provides a variety of critical functions during the completion stages of each well section: it can be run as a high speed reaming solution for casing or tubular deployment, as a casing scraper, or as a jetting tool for wellbore clean-up operations. Enhanced fluid carrying capacity making it ideal for casing and liner cementing operations.

Superior to conventional cementing and guide shoes, the HYDRA builds upon their respective features by aiding in hole cleaning and clearing of formation bridges to land casing on depth.

    • First response to sticky hole conditions
    • Fluid activated with drillable internals
    • Very high rotational speeds achieved with fluid circulation down the string
    • Better hole cleaning and debris removal prior to cementing
    • Improved cementing operations in high angle and horizontal wells
    • Low and uniform pressure drop across the tool making HYDRA ideal for completion string deployment
    • Optimized nose profiles available
    • Multiple jets
    • Can be used as an alternative jetting tool for well-bore clean up and stimulations
  • MRS - Motorized Reamer Shoe
Drilling Motor technology in a casing deployment tool....

The Motorized Reamer System is the first drillable positive displacement motor technology adopted as an integral component for casing deployment. The MRS™ is a system purposely built to ensure tubulars can be successfully deployed; even with challenging hole conditions.

The MRS™ features InFocus’ patent-pending AMP: All Metal Power sections which are completely elastomer-less and rated to temperatures greater than 200°C (400°F), The tool is a robust alternative to the mechanical, hydro-mechanical or turbine driven systems. It comes with a unique feature not seen in a positive displacement motor, where the entire body structure rotates with circulation and the rotor maintains a stationary position with the rest of the tubular string. In this configuration, the MRS™ acts as a reaming tool with an added agitation function.

Scalable and capable or producing torque levels that could drive a PDC bit, the MRS™ is available for 4-1/2” to 20” casing.

Get Casing and Liners to bottom, on-time and on-depth...

  • Static Casing Reamer Shoe by InFocus

The Static Casing Reamer Shoe is designed to get Casing and Liners to bottom on-time and on-depth.  The shoe gives the operator the ability pump while the nose on the end of the Static Reamer Shoe rotates with the casing string, jetting any debris in the path of the casing.

In the case of surface or an intermediate string, it can be cemented in place, giving the operator having the ability to drill-out through the Static Casing Reamer Shoe to drill a further hole section.

    • Ultra low friction contact blades
    • Chevron-style blades with carbide domes
    • Optional Nose styles available
    • Connection can be threaded or welded on
