  • Industry-leading cable glands for Division 2 and Zone 1, 2, 21, and 22 applications,

    now Type 4X rated.

TWINSBURG, Ohio – Pepperl+Fuchs, a world leader in process automation and applications, now offers fully certified, UL Type 4X rated cable glands for explosion protection equipment as part of its total solutions offering.  NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) establishes the performance criteria intended for specific environments, and these performance criteria and test methods are then used by the American safety consulting company, Underwriters Laboratory (UL).

Suitable for use in Div 2, Pepperl+Fuchs’ Type 4X rated cable glands are designed to withstand some of the harshest conditions in process automation, including extreme temperatures, total washdown, and exposure to corrosive materials. They are available for hazardous areas and general industry; can accommodate armored and non-armored cabling; and are offered in nickel-plated brass and stainless steel.

“Our cable glands are extremely durable and simple to install,” says Brent Dean, product manager for explosion protection equipment at Pepperl+Fuchs. “The Type 4X rating enables us to build and certify our solutions for global use in a wide range of rugged industrial applications commonly found in refining and chemical industries. Using our cable glands in their process automation solutions affords our customers reduced inventory and increased uptime.”

Cable glands from Pepperl+Fuchs are renowned for their uniform design and internally secured armor clamps, which prevent the glands from falling apart when opened. Secured fittings prevent losing critical internal pieces during assembly/disassembly, and a triple sealing insert prevents water intrusion and offers one of the largest clamping ranges on the market.

With the new Type 4X rating, Pepperl+Fuchs now offers glands that are ATEX and IECEx certified and UL listed. This eliminates the need for customers to place separate orders, endure long lead times, and seek third-party certifications. Cable glands are offered individually or in kits, and are also available for on-line purchase. For more information visit www.pepperl-fuchs.com.

  • VisuNet IXD HMI Solution
All-new 19-inch remote monitor for IECEx/ATEX Zone 1/21 rated hazardous locations, featuring a marine-grade aluminum housing for extreme temperatures up to 60º C, and thermally hardened glass for high impact resistance....

  • Designed for IECEx/ATEX Zone 1/21 rated hazardous locations, the new IXD is perfect for oil and gas applications. The 19-inch IXD 2100 comes equipped with Pepperl+Fuchs’ industry-leading RM Shell 5 thin client firmware.  This latest-generation firmware, based on Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB, supports easy integration and management of VisuNet remote monitors and thin clients.  RM Shell 5 allows users to create profiles and connections to access their applications on a process control system via standard Ethernet networking.

The VisuNet IXD 2100 is available either as thin client or as PC technology. The thin client version is a closed system with the RM Shell firmware. It enables remote access to distant computers. Image transmission is operated via network technology. The PC version offers an open Windows operating system on which customers can install their own applications

One of the clear advantages of the IXD 2100 is its modular design comprised of three main components: the display, computer, and power supply. Operators can easily disassemble the modules on-site and replace components independently in the event of a fault. This makes field maintenance quick and easy, and reduces costs associated with downtime.

In addition to multiple mounting options, the IXD also offers a large selection of interfaces for optimal communication. Along with RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces, a redundant Ethernet option is also available. This allows redundant network structures to be set up and sustainably increases the availability of the monitors. The true highlight is the new fiber optic interface, which is certified to the latest optical intrinsic safety standards. It allows the monitor to be connected to a standard fiber-optic switch that only has to meet the requirements of Class 1 laser.

  • F31K2 Valve Position Sensor
F31K2 valve position sensor is designed for use in harsh oil and gas environments. The modular housing is made of ruggedized, translucent plastic, providing high UV protection and resistance to extreme temperatures, salt water, and corrosion....

  • Throughout the process industry, valves and actuators are used for controlling and diverting fluid flows. Plant engineers need to monitor the position of valves, taps, and actuators in the control system. This feedback is generally provided by inductive sensors that are mounted directly on actuators or the manual valve. Pepperl+Fuchs’ F31K2 valve position sensor is an open solution, comprised of dual sensors that mount directly onto the actuator and targets that mount directly to the actuator stem.

Designed for use in the oil and gas industry, Pepperl+Fuchs’ F31K2 is the most flexible, ruggedized and weatherproof valve position sensor available. An extended temperature range along with numerous options for electrical connections are just some of the features essential in a sensor designed for use in harsh outdoor environments. Direct-mount valve position sensors minimize space requirements, maintain assured sensing distance, and offer simple, reliable monitoring.

Optimized for outdoor use, the F31K2’s housing materials provide high UV protection and are resistant to extreme temperatures, salt water, and corrosion. The beacon is visible from long distances and gives on-site operators reliable valve position information at a glance. The modular housing is made of a ruggedized, translucent plastic. LEDs that indicate the power supply, sensor, and valve conditions are integrated into the encapsulated sensor module. With a large terminal compartment and pluggable terminal block, cables that are rigid or have large diameters do not pose problems in environments where mounting could prove difficult.

“This sensor is compact, and the beacon in a weatherproof housing gives a very clear indication of the valve’s position. With inductive sensors, there is no need for mechanical contacts—what is not there cannot corrode. The fully encapsulated housing design of the F31K2 guarantees additional protection and high impermeability, making this sensor a perfect choice for oil and gas applications,” says Kristen Barbour, product marketing manager for Pepperl+Fuchs.
