  • The Challenge


    Deutsche Erdöl AG’s (DEA) Mittleplate field development comprises of multiple high-tech, multi-lateral extended reach wells. The highly deviated nature of these wells means that traditional well-intervention would be demanding, costly and hazardous. DEA required the development of new technology to set hydraulic packers in high deviation extended reach wells, without the need for wireline intervention.


    The Solution


    Precision Oiltools designed and developed the Interventionless Precision Valve (IPV), an ISO barrier valve that cut out the need for well intervention. This was all completed on time utilising Precision Oiltools’ in-house design and manufacturing capabilities. The IPV uses a patented captive ball design to provide isolation from below the packer, allowing packer setting to commence. The valve may then be opened by applying a predetermined opening pressure from above. This opening pressure could be simply adjusted on the rig floor without the need for a service engineer. The valve opening gives a clear indication in the hydraulic pressure, which can be easily identified from the surface. Once open the ball stays open, allowing for full tubing ID through the ball.

    The Result:


    The Precision Oiltools IPV was run on 6 production wells in the Mittleplate development with a 100% success rate, after having been developed and manufactured on time.

    The IPV is a Remote Open Barrier Valve, installed as an integrated part of the completion string or liner & predominately used for remotely setting the Production Packer/Testing Tubing....

  • Overview:

    The IPV is a remote open barrier valve designed to be installed and run as an integrated part of the completion string or liner. This increases the efficiency of the installation process. The IPV doesn’t require any offshore personnel & can be set up to the Operators specifications onshore or opening setting can easily be adjusted offshore if operations change prior to RIH.

    The IPV incorporates Precision Oiltools patented equalisation feature, before remotely opening the valve. This saves the Operator from a pressure surge during opening process which is integral to ESP completions.

    The IPV can seal & provide a barrier in extreme well conditions, and also in wells with high differential pressure across the barrier.

    Upon removal, the IPV will provide the completion with Full Bore ID for any future well intervention required.

    Various Set-Up options are available for the valve RIH. Pressure Counter Mechanism can be incorporated.

    In addition to the built-in remote opening mechanism, a variety of opening options are available as a contingency. Full ID is always guaranteed after opening.

  • Overview:


    The Precision Oiltools Stinger Valve is designed as a cost-effective solution for isolation between the upper and lower completion and enables intervention-less hydraulic opening, saving downhole trips and reducing intervention.
    The Precision Oiltools Stinger Valve can be hydraulically opened by simply applying tubing pressure. The set opening pressure can be easily adjusted offshore to suit a variety of applications.
    The Stinger Valve incorporates our patented opening feature which can be tailored to give ultimate control when opening so no pressure surge occurs.
    Once open, the Stinger Valve can be mechanically opened/closed using a shifting tool an unlimited number of mechanical cycles.


    Applications:


    The Stinger Valve isolates the formation below the uppermost packer, holding pressure from above and below, to help ensure complete formation isolation.
    The Stinger Valve can be used in sand control frac-pack, gravel-pack, and standalone screen applications as well as intelligent and standard completions.

  • Overview:

    The Precision Oiltools IPV 2 is a Remotely Closed/Opened barrier valve run as an integrated part of the completion string. With premium connections throughout the valve, the IPV 2 can be run above or below the packer and used for a range of applications. The IPV2 can be unlimitedly remotely closed & opened with well applied pressure and contains Precision Oiltools patented equalising feature when opening. Once open, the barrier valve leaves full bore ID in the completion.
