We are DIMATE, a software technology company
We Digitize NDT Inspection Processes from Upstream, Midstream and Downstream to Clean Energy

Because we know how IT works
We understand non-destructive testing processes and how to make them work digital as well as without disruptions

DIMATE Mission & Vision
People + Artificial Intelligence for Better Inspection Workflows

We want inspection processes to become more reliable and make plants and components even safer

  • Total Innovation in Digital Plant Inspection

At the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), DIMATE will present its own developments based on artificial intelligence for the automated detection and evaluation of Condition Monitoring Locations (CML).

With this intelligent solution, DIMATE takes a completely new approach to the AI-based evaluation of NDT radiographic images of pipelines and components in energy plants.

The AI is seamlessly integrated into DIMATE's PACS system and ensures correct evaluation and measurement based on the customer's component catalog.

This takes NDT inspection data quality to a new level and further optimizes inspection processes.

We recommend that all plant operators, whether onshore or offshore, take a look at the DIMATE PACS and the latest AI developments.

Make an appointment at OTC 2024 or arrange an online demonstration with our team afterwards.

All you need to do is email us at buddy@dimate.de with your requirements.

 Press Releases

  • BP achieved a huge success in optimizing on-stream inspections during live operations with the help of DIMATE

In a pilot phase prior to the go-live, BP had tested the DIMATE PACS capability to exchange digital data with NDT service contractors. The DIMATE PACS passed the test with flying colors – or as Peter van Bruggen put it, Delivery Orchestration Lead I&E - Digital Production & Business Services at BP: “This innovative NDT picture archiving and communication system enables our Plant Inspection Department and the service contractors, who are integrated in NDT, to work in an entirely new way. With DIMATE we are seeing the future of improved inspections.”

From business case to best practice

In October 2020, BP had started their digitalization journey with a contextual inquiry of their NDT practices, performed by BP Solutions und I&E Intelligent Operations. In early 2021, this evolved into a business case with the aim to digitalize NDT processes and to optimize management of NDT data at the different sites. In cooperation with DIMATE, BP Refinery Rotterdam initiated a proof of concept which was realized by a multidisciplinary team. In a first step, user stories were defined focusing on the end-to-end workflow of the NDT process and integrating maintenance, plant inspection and NDT service contractors.

A first iteration of Scrum sprints provided proof that implementation of the DIMATE PACS can enable all user stories.  The new digital E2E NDT workflow offers the following capabilities:

    • management of pipe wall thickness-readings from images feeding into Meridium at CML / TML level
    • transmitting NDT order and isometry data from Meridium to all parts of the plant
    • online access of all NDT data sets, including historic image data, enabling the inspector to assess corrosion development over a period, by comparing images
    • more efficient management of residual pipe wall thickness readings due to automated processes replacing manual Excel loads
    • higher level of maturity with regard to cooperation with and integration of NDT service contractors; shared data responsibility and governance, increased data integrity in Meridium thickness monitoring
    • development of a platform for future inspection methodologies, e.g. drone-based images, GPS-based data analysis by AI

Digital NDT with the DIMATE PACS and the data analysis function allows better and faster decision-making in stressful TAR periods. TAR planning is optimized and the workload reduced. In a nutshell: shorter TARs and lower costs.

    Introducing the DICONDE IT-standard

Migrating existing NDT data sets optimizes data analysis since recent as well as historic data can be accessed at any time and from anywhere. Processes could be further streamlined since the DIMATE PACS is based on the recognized DICONDE standard – a precondition for end-to-end data management between all BP sites and NDT service contractors at different sites and working with different NDT test systems. Maintaining data integrity across systems by different vendors is no longer a major hurdle since the new data management with defined data ownership roles and responsibilities and DICONDE-compliance ensure data quality and data integrity.

The transition from pilot to standard operation in late January meant that service contractors as well as the BP Refinery Rotterdam Plant Inspection Department had to adopt new ways of working. The transition was facilitated by quick reference cards that explain the key steps. In mid-February the system will also transfer to a standard support model. So far feedback by users and contractors alike has been excellent.

  • DIMATE PACS establishes a complete digital NDT workflow and data evaluation among inspection management systems, testing devices and service contractors.

Inspection orders, images and results are automatically exchanged between the systems, eliminating disruptive media breaks in information transfer, such as Excel lists, USB Sticks, emails, paper reports etc.

Another feature of the PACS is a structured NDT database with a traceable history. NDT data is standardized into the international vendor-independent IT format DICONDE that enables data integrity across multiple systems. Important images, reports and other documents can be accessed and distributed by inspection participators in a few clicks.

At the evaluation stage, the PACS provides numerous tools for the reliable analysis of NDT data. For example, images from different radiographic inspections can be viewed side-by-side and compared to assess changes over time.

The main components of DIMATE PACS are:

    • Workstation software to evaluate and display NDT data from a wide range of inspection techniques and to support the creation of inspection reports
    • Database for overview and search of all test data and relevant documents
    • DICONDE interfaces to compliant NDT devices
      (RT, UT, VT, …)

    • Import gateways for the transfer of various NDT data
    • APIs to IDMS, APM, ERP and other IT systems
    • Archive storage management for all NDT data
