  • The wind speed sensor is a four blade helicoid propeller. Unique transducer produces a pulse signal without electrical contacts or slip rings. The wind direction sensor is a durable molded vane. Vane angle is sensed by a precision potentiometer housed in a sealed chamber. All materials are carefully selected for corrosion resistance and maximum durability in the harsh marine environment. Ceramic bearings are used throughout.

    Wind speed: 0-100 m/s (224 mph)
    Azimuth: 360° mechanical, 355° electrical (5° open)

    Wind speed: ± 0.3 m/s (0.6 mph) or 1% of reading
    Wind direction: ± 3 degrees

  • Model 92000 is ideal for many weather monitoring applications requiring accurate and reliable measurements.  Ultrasonic wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, humidity and temperature sensors are carefully integrated into an enclosure optimized for durability, airflow and mitigation of solar radiation effects.  Digital serial output formats provided include SDI-12, NMEA, and ASCII text.  Output may be continuously provided or, to conserve power, polled output may be used.  RS-232 or RS-485 serial format options enable direct integration with YOUNG displays, marine NMEA systems, data loggers or other compatible serial devices.

    The YOUNG Sentry™ Visibility Sensor measures atmospheric visibility (meteorological optical range) by determining the amount of light scattered by particles in the air (smoke, dust, haze, fog, rain, & snow).

  • Performance in all weather conditions is achieved with an integrated sensor design that keeps all sensor cabling internal to the sensor for complete protection from the elements. The sensor is made from anodized aluminum and rugged, UV-resistant fiberglass enclosures. Based on the proven field experience of the NWS and FAA, the sensor uses a “look down” geometry to reduce window contamination and clogging from blowing snow. The optical windows have continuous duty anti-dew heaters.  Optional thermostatically controlled external hood heaters are available for additional protection in extreme environments. All power and signal lines to the Sentry™ are protected with surge and EMI filtering to ensure uninterrupted service for the life of the sensor.
