  • Ferralium 255 super duplex stainless steel
    Ferralium 255 is the original super duplex stainless steel, invented by Langley Alloys. It is the only super duplex to achieve >85ksi yield strength, whilst the 2% copper content provides superior corrosion resistance in the most aggressive environments....

  • Ferralium® 255 is the original super duplex stainless steel. It achieves higher strengths than most stainless steels and alternative corrosion resistant alloys, offering the potential to reduce section size and therefore weight and cost.

    As a 25% Cr alloy, with significant additions of copper, Ferralium 255 offers excellent corrosion resistance in a wide variety of corrosive chemicals including sulphuric, nitric and phosphoric acid. In seawater and other chloride containing environments it also provides outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, with Critical Pitting Temperature exceeding 50°C. Excellent ductility and impact strength at both ambient and sub-zero temperatures combine with a high resistance to abrasion, erosion and cavitation erosion.

    Listed in NACE MR 01 75 for sour service, Ferralium 255 is tested to the highest degree using tests designed to guarantee that the trade-marked product possesses high integrity, a correct phase balance and the absence of sigma and other deleterious phases.

  • Langley Alloys prides ourselves as ‘The Home of Super Duplex’, stocking the most complete range of these high performance grades in bar and plate, with selected pipe and fittings also available.

    1) F51 (2205 duplex). ASTM A276 S31803/S2205. ASTM A182 F51 / F60. 1.4462

    A 22% Cr duplex stainless steel, providing a significant increase in both strength and corrosion resistance over standard austenitic grades such as 304/316L. Available up to 18” diameter bars and 1” thickness plates.

    2) F53 (SAF2507). ASTM A479 F53. S32750. 1.4410

    3) F55 (S32760). 1.4501

    Both are 25% Cr super duplex stainless steels, with a yield strength of >80ksi and a pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) of >40. Such grades are widely used in seawater and other aggressive environments. Available up to 16” diameter bars and 3” thickness plates.

    4) Ferralium 255 (Alloy 255). F61. 1.4507

    Invented by Langley Alloys, Ferralium 255 has been providing superior levels of performance for more than 50 years. Available up to 14” diameter bars and 3” thickness plates.

  • Nickel Alloys
    Langley Alloys also stocks a wide range of competitively priced nickel alloys from our UK facility, used predominantly for applications in Oil & Gas and the chemical process industry. These include K500, 718, 625, 725, 825 and 925....

  • Generally speaking, nickel-based alloys offer good to excellent levels of corrosion resistance in seawater, acids and alkalis, which improves as the alloy content increases. Alloys such as K500, 725 and 925 can provide very high levels of yield strength through precipitation strengthening. All the grades carried by Langley Alloys are suitable for use in applications from cryogenic to elevated temperatures, as they can retain most of their strength and impact properties up to as high as 650°C.
