(NASDAQ: IRDM) announced today that Iridium CloudConnect, the first and only satellite cloud-based solution offering truly global coverage for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, is now actively serving customers. This new service combines Iridium® IoT capabilities with Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT and cloud services extending customers' IoT reach to the more than 80 percent of the Earth that lacks terrestrial coverage.

    By combining the unique attributes of the Iridium network with the breadth of AWS supporting infrastructure and services, Iridium customers can reduce engineering time, lower fixed operating costs, and experience faster development and deployment of new IoT products and applications.  For existing AWS customers, Iridium CloudConnect is providing the ability to easily expand their current service footprint beyond terrestrial coverage, creating the opportunity for additional service offerings and improved performance through the addition of satellite connectivity.

(NASDAQ: IRDM) today announced the first 10 approved beta partners developing new products based on the state-of-the-art Iridium Certus 9770 transceiver. Each partner has received operational beta units, which have been undergoing extensive testing designed to fine-tune both the new transceiver and the first new solutions they will enable in preparation for service activation. Small and highly mobile, like previous Iridium® devices, the Iridium Certus 9770 transfers IP data over 35 times faster than its predecessors while also supporting high quality voice connections. This new midband device, with L-band speeds ranging from 22 Kbps to 88 Kbps, will expand the reach of satellite services to new markets, ranging from unmanned and autonomous drones to new personal communicators and remotely deployed IoT devices, all connected through Iridium's unique L-band network. 

    The 10 companies currently testing a new generation of small-form factor satellite-enabled devices for maritime, aviation, land-mobile, Internet of Things (IoT) and government applications include: Beam Communications Pty. Ltd., Blue Sky Network, Cobham, Lars Thrane, Marine Instruments S.A., McQ Inc., NAL Research Corporation, SkyTrac Systems Ltd., Telespazio and Wireless Innovation.  Upon completion of testing, the Iridium Certus 9770 transceiver will be made available to additional Iridium licensed technology and distribution partners, expected in the first quarter of 2020.

(NASDAQ: IRDM) announced today the commercial launch of its Iridium Certus broadband service, the first new capability activated from the company's $3 billion Iridium® NEXT satellite replacement program.  Iridium Certus is a unique platform designed for the development of specialty applications and is the world's only truly global broadband service, offering on-the-move internet and high-quality voice access.  The service enables mobile office functionality for deployed teams and two-way remote communication for assets, autonomous vehicles, trains, aircraft and ships at sea.  This also includes safety-of-life services, where Iridium Certus is uniquely suited for the critical communications needs of teams operating beyond the reach of cellular coverage, including first responders and search and rescue organizations.  This announcement marks the end of an extensive global testing phase, including beta trials with live customers; the initial service is targeted at maritime and terrestrial applications, with Iridium Certus aviation solutions expected later in 2019, once certified.

    Iridium Certus enables a unique and high-value suite of mobility applications and true comms-on-the-move capabilities with the known robustness and reliability that come with being a cutting-edge L-band user network. Customers receive their SBD device data in a Simple Queue Service (SQS) queue in JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format. Queues reside in the customer’s own AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) environment.
