 Press Releases

  • CS Unitec has introduced a new portable hydraulic magnetic drill is ideal for use in subsea applications and Ex Zones. With a 3.4 HP reversible motor, Model 2 1345 0010 operates with an infinitely variable speed of 40-250 RPM. This machine has a 12” stroke and can drill holes up to 4” diameter in structural steel and other metals. The drill has a Morse Taper 3 (MT3) chuck, allowing twist drilling up to 1-1/4” dia., tapping up to 1” dia., countersinking up to 2” dia. and reaming up to 1-1/8” dia.  Model 2 1345 0010 is ATEX Classified Ex II 2Gc IIB T5 for use in hazardous atmospheres.

The drill’s magnet is manually operated with a lever control. It will continue to maintain a magnetic holding force of up to 1874 lbs. on plate up to 3/8” thickness, even if the drill motor’s power supply is interrupted. At only 50 lbs., this drill is portable to the jobsite.

An optional pipe clamp (Part No. 2 1330 8500) permits right angle drilling of steel, cast iron, cement and plastic pipes up to 43-1/4” dia., with additional extension chains.

  • Hydraulic Chain Saw with Brake for Underwater Applications

CS Unitec has introduced a series of hydraulic chain saws designed with a chain brake to stop chain movement during kickback or repositioning of the saw during cutting. Ideal for use in underwater applications, Series 5 1030 saws are safer than gas or electric options in hazardous atmospheres. This saw is ATEX classified II2GcIIBT5 and suitable for use in hot work zones, Ex zones and other hazardous environments.

The Series 5 1030 saw features a powerful 10 HP motor with a no-load speed of 5000 RPM to cut wood, plastics, ductile iron, cast iron and concrete with applicable bar and chain. The saw operates on 12 GPM hydraulic oil at 2000 psi. An open-center hydraulic system with integrated pressure control valve keeps system pressure constant. It produces a noise level of 87 dB and vibration level of 3.6 m/s2.

The Series 5 1030 saw is available with a cutting capacity of 11”, 15”, 17”, 21”, 25”, 28” or 40”. Standard equipment includes a .404” pitch Super Chisel saw chain. Carbide-tipped saw chains are also available. Optional accessories include a clamp (P/N 5 1030 9300) for cutting pipes up to 27” (700mm) and splash guard (P/N 5 1030 9100). For cutting concrete, cast iron and ductile iron, CS Unitec offers 15” diamond-tipped saw chains with applicable chain bar.

  • Cut and Bevel Pipe up to 63" Diameter with a Single Lightweight, Portable Machine

CS Unitec’s new series of hydraulic pipe cutting machines cut and bevel pipe from 6” to 63” diameter with a wall thickness up to 2”. The Model 5 8006 Series cuts ductile iron, ferrous and non-ferrous metal including stainless steel, HDPE, plastic, cement pipe and more. The 2-speed, hydraulic motor operates at 1800 RPM for cutting and 350 RPM for low-speed/high-torque beveling. This versatile machine also bevels 45˚, 60˚ and 90˚ angles with optional blades for on-site weld preparation. The pipe cutting machine uses 6-13 GPM @ 2000 psi. Its compact design and operation allow pipe to be cut underground with minimal excavation.

ATEX Certified under Class II 2 GcT6, the tool can be used in industrial zones where flammable gas, vapor, mist and dust may be present and where surface temperatures do not exceed 185˚F/85˚C. The machine’s ATEX classification and durability make it suitable for use in refinery, offshore oil, marine, petrochemical, power generation, industrial plant maintenance, pipeline construction and demolition applications.

Three models are available for cutting pipes up to 16”, 32” or 63” diameter. Standard equipment includes Model 5 8006 7000 motor, two 7” blades – one carbide tipped and one diamond coated – with blade guard, guide carriage, guide chain, chain tensioner, tool kit and steel transport box. The pipe cutting machine features an adjustable cutting depth and water connection for cooling the blade. The machine is guided manually with the hand lever feed to make a 360˚ cut in the pipe. The guide chain can be adjusted by adding and removing chain links.
